The term burnished refers to the specialized minting process used to create these coins. Although they are similar in appearance to the ordinary Uncirculated (BU) Silver American Eagle Bullion Coins, the burnished coins can be distinguished by the addition of a 'W' mintmark on the reverse and the satin-like field behind the frosted features on the coin.
With the U.S. Mint’s first Silver Bullion program in production, the year 1990 saw the minting of fine silver bullion coins like this 1990 Silver American Eagle. The coin presented here has now been certified by PCGS as Mint-State 69, making it a versatile investment with high tradability.
