Full Description

The 2016 Gold American Eagles have landed. These beautiful coins mark the 30th anniversary of the Gold Eagle series. Don't miss an opportunity to hold a little piece of history with these wonderfully detailed pieces.

With a diameter of 16.5 mm, the coin is smaller than a modern U.S. dime! It is a truly remarkable feat that the original Saint Gaudens design can retain ever fine detail on such a small scale, a true testament to how far our countries minting capabilities have come. Anniversary coins are usually regarded with extreme interest among the numismatic community, and the 2015 1/10 Oz. Gold American Eagle, which is graded by PCGS and is contained within a special commemorative case, is sure to become the highlight of a few collections.

The PCGS is the leading authority when it comes to grading, and has graded more than 30 million coins as of January 2016. Their work also comes with a guarantee of grade and authenticity that will follow the coin for its lifetime so long as it remains in its tamper-evident casing. The meaning of the grade, according to PCGS is as follows:

MS70 - "As struck, with full strike"

(The phrase "full strike" refers to the clarity of the details on the coin. To have "full strike" means you have the most details possible for that design.)

The Obverse

The design is considered to be one of the most beautiful of all the various designs on our coinage. On the front of the coin, Lady Liberty is displayed standing proudly with her torch held high in her right hand, and an olive branch in her left. On her right side, at the bottom of the coin, stands the U.S. Capital Build

The Reverse

Though the original double-eagle design showed a beautiful American eagle mid-flight, the current coins actually have three eagles on the reverse- a mother and her young waiting in their nest as a male eagle brings an olive branch to them.
