Full Description

Millard married Abigail Fillmore in 1826, after postponing their marriage because of financial issues. 1849 marked the election of Millard as Vice president. He soon became the President as Zachary died. It was only 16 months later that he took his seat as the President. Abigail Fillmore was more of a lover of books. She didn't like being so social. She spent her time reading books and also got a library established in the White House itself.

The Obverse:  The Obverse shows the portrait of Abigail. The obverse was designed and sculpted by Phebe Hemphill.

The Reverse: The reverse features Abigail Fillmore placing books in the shelves of the White House Library. It was designed by Susan Gamble and was sculpted by the famous artist Joseph Menna.
