Full Description

Also known as the "Coronet Head", the Liberty head was designed to match the styles of the other gold Eagles the government was producing. The Liberty Head design was created by Christian Gobrecht and was produced successfully from 1840 to 1907, the most popular of all of the models.

Obverse:

Inspired from Coronet-type Large cent. The front face features the Lady Liberty encircled by 13 stars, inscribed with a date below.

Reverse:

One of the most fascinating eagle designs on any U.S. coin. It shows a bald eagle clutching three arrows and an olive branch in its talons.
