Obverse of Gold American Eagles

On the front of each Gold American Eagle is the famous Augustus Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle design. First minted in 1907, the original Double Eagle design underwent several changes, as the ultra high-relief design was unable to minted for regular circulation. The beautiful image has remained relatively unchanged; the only difference being the change in the date and the lower relief of the coin. Pictured is Lady Liberty standing in the foreground, with the capital building behind her as she clutches a lit torch in one hand, and an olive branch in the other.

Reverse of Gold American Eagles

Featured on the Reverse is a modern representation of the traditional eagle and heraldic eagles typically depicted on American coinage. Designed by Miley Busiek in 1985, the image shows a male eagle, flying above a mother eagle and her hatchling, and shows it presenting an olive branch. Stand inscriptions are shown around the image and the weight and purity of the coin are shown below.

Obverse of Silver American Eagle

Originally minted in 1916 on the Half-Dollar, the Walking Liberty design is featured on the modern Silver American Eagle bullion investment coin. Designed by Adolph A. Weinman, the design features Lady Liberty mid-stride, in a billowing dress, walking towards a rising sun holding a large olive branch in one hand with the other outstretched towards the horizon. An American flag is shown wrapped around her figure, and a liberty cap can be seen on her head.

Reverse of Silver American Eagle

Shown on the Reverse of the Silver American Eagle is a modern design, first minted in 1986. A heraldic eagle is shown in traditional fashion, clutching the bundle of arrows and olive branch; a shield at its breast and a ribbon with the inscription "E Pluribus Unum". The weight and purity of the coin is shown below the patriotic image.
