Full Description

The first World Cup Soccer game held in the United States boasted a crowd of over 1 million more attendees than any previous World Soccer game. This beautiful 1994 World Cup Half Dollar proof coin was minted to commemorate that historic event. This coin, struck in copper and nickel with a pure copper core in the proof process, features the Ultra Cameo designation referring to its sharp contrasts. This sovereign coin is a delight for collectors and soccer enthusiasts alike.

Obverse

Designed by artist Richard T. LaRoche, the front of the World Cup Half Dollar depicts a World Cup soccer game ball carrier moving the soccer ball down the field. Behind the player, the date of 1994 is displayed in large letters, indicating America’s first time to host the FIFA games. Also on the obverse are the word ‘Liberty’ and the motto ‘In God We Trust.’

The back of the coin, designed by Dean McMullen, shows the official World Cup logo at the center of the coin with laurel branches on each side of the logo. Also on the obverse are the motto ‘E Pluribus Unum,’ ‘United States of America,’ the denomination of ‘Half Dollar,’ and the words ‘World Cup USA 94.’
