Full Description

Completing a collection of any coin series is rarely easy or inexpensive. That’s why the 1941-1947 Walking Liberty Half Dollar Short Set is one of the most popular ways to build a collection. The half-dollar design of these coins was created by Adolph A. Weinman and minted from 1916 to 1947. Because the years included in the short set leave out expensive key date coins from years outside the 1941-1947 span, it is an inexpensive choice for coin collectors. This short set includes 20 different date/mintmark Walking Liberty Half Dollars. This 20-coin set is offered here in Mint State-65 condition as certified by coin grading service PCGS.

Obverse

The front of the coin depicts Lady Liberty walking toward a rising sun. An American flag is draped across her shoulder, and she carries branches in her left hand. Weinman wanted the iconic figure to be as tall as possible, so he placed the word ‘Liberty’ to her right rather than above her. Also on the obverse is the motto ‘In God We Trust’ and the year of issue.

Reverse

Weinman created the reverse design as well. It features an eagle standing on a rocky crag with wings held high. Also on the back of the coin is the motto ‘E Pluribus Unum,’ the denomination of ‘Half Dollar’ and the mintmark.
