Getz Washington - 2 Troy oz

On the 31st of October 1791, Robert Morris, head of the Senate committee on coinage and former Superintendent of Finance during the Confederation, was appointed to draft legislation that would provide for the establishment of a federal mint, including specifics on the size and design of the coins. Anticipating passage of his version of the legislation, Morris hired engravers to make sample coins to his specifications. Among the engravers he employed was Peter Getz of Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Fugio Cent - 2 Troy Ounce

On April 21, 1787, the Congress of the Confederation of the United States authorized a design for an official copper penny, later referred to as the Fugio cent because of its image of the sun shining down on a sundial with the caption, “Fugio,” a Latin word meaning “flee or fly.” Designed by Benjamin Franklin, as a reminder to its holders, he put at the bottom the message, “Mind Your Business.” The image and the words form a rebus meaning that “time flies, do your work.” This design was also used on the “Continental dollar,” issued as coins of an unknown real denomination in February 1776.

Adopted on December 15, 1791, the Second Amendment of the Bill of Rights protects the right of the people to keep and bear arms. As the source of countless debates, this amendment has been saddled politically, however, time and time again the Supreme Court continues to uphold that this right belongs to individuals and is not to be infringed. George Washington himself is emblazoned on this medal with a declaration to those who would be armed in the defense of this nation, demanding discipline, which cannot be argued by any reasonable or rational person.

$20 Saint -Gaudens- High Relief- 2 Troy Ounce - 39MM

Saint-Gaudens took great interest in the “art of the coin”: his $20 gold piece, the double eagle coin he designed for the U.S. Mint, though it was adapted for minting was first struck in 1907, in ultra-high relief (only 20 minted). The coin took up to eleven strikes to bring up the detail. The ultra-high relief did not strike properly and was deemed impractical for commerce. The design was then flattened and a high-relief version was minted. Even though it took eight strikes less, it was still considered impractical for commerce. The coin was finally modified to a normal-relief version, which was minted from 1907-1933. It is still considered to be one of the most beautiful American coins ever issued.

Memento Mori - 2 Troy Ounce - 39MM - Antiqued

During the time of ancient Rome, legend has it that a general returning home after being triumphant in an important battle, paraded around the entire city celebrating his victory. He received accolades, congratulations, and compliments from the crowds. For a moment, the general felt a great deal of pride and intense arrogance. At that moment, a slave, who would have otherwise gone unremembered, said in a low voice, so not to be heard by anyone but his master, uttered the words, “Memento mori.” “Remember that you too will die.” So profound and obvious that it remains important in Western culture even to this day.
