During the coronation of Her Majesty The Queen, ten heraldic beast stood guard. The Queen's beasts that were sculpted by James Woodford RA for Her Majesty's coronation, held in Westminster Abbey back in 1953. Each of the ten beasts stand right at six feet tall and symbolize the various strands of royal ancestry brought together during the crowning of The Queen. Inspired by the King's Beasts of Henry VIII, these beast still line the bridge that spans the moat at his Hampton Court Palace. This exciting coin brings out the grand history of the ten beasts that will translate into ten coins to represent each from the Royal Mint. This Lion of England, crowned the golden lion of England which is a supporter of the Royal Arms since James I in 1603 will be the first coin/beast released. To be followed by the griffin, falcon, bull, yale, greyhound, dragon, unicorn and horse. This thrilling venture has been undertaken by a highly-praised Royal Mint Coin Designer, Jody Clark.

The Obverse

The Obverse depicts the iconic effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, who is known world-wide as a symbol for the Royal Mint. Also shown on the obverse is the face value for 100 pounds.

The Reverse

The Reverse features a fierce lion supporting a shield that displays the lions of England in the first and last quarter of the shield. While the treasure of Scotland will hold the second quarter and the harp of Ireland is shown in the third quarter of the shield.
