Experience the thrill of the hunt with the Silver Maple Leaf 1 oz. Red-Tail Hawk, the 2015 edition of the Royal Canadian Mint’s Birds of Prey Series. These sovereign one-ounce coins are made of .9999 fine Silver and backed by the Canadian Government. Mintage of this Silver Maple Leaf Red-Tail Hawk is limited to 1,000,000 coins. The 2015 Silver Maple Leaf Red-Tail Hawk is admired by both investors and collectors.

An effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, created by Canadian artist Susanna Blunt, graces the obverse of the 2015 Red-Tail Hawk coin. This image was adapted from Blunt’s winning national portrait competition entry depicting the Queen. Although Canada is no longer ruled by the monarch, the likeness pays homage to Canada’s roots as a part of the British Empire.

The Red-Tailed Hawk is featured on the reverse, shown in powerful flight. The richly detailed image shows each feather, talon and feature in amazingly accurate detail. The hawk has its beak open and claws poised for descent as it aims for its prey. The obverse also displays its purity of .9999 Fine Silver, its weight of 1 oz. and the inscription Argent Pur, denoting its silver content. Above the hawk is the coin’s country of origin, Canada. Artist Emily Damstra created the design, and her initials ED are engraved to the left of the hawk’s tail.
