Full Description

Mount Rushmore bears the distinction of being the largest stone sculpture on earth. The year 1991, when this Mount Rushmore Half Dollar was minted, was the 50th Anniversary of the gigantic statue’s completion in 1941 by Lincoln Borglum, who finished the sculpture after his father Gutzon died earlier that year. The coin presented is certified as a Proof 69 Ultra Cameo coin and is packaged by NGC with their distinguished Brown Label. This commemorative coin is a must-have for collectors who enjoy history.

Obverse

The front of the coin shows a likeness of the finely-detailed Mount Rushmore sculpture. The images displayed on the sculpture and on the coin are George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. Also on the obverse are the motto ‘In God We Trust,’ the year of issue as 1991, and the words ‘Mount Rushmore.’

Reverse

An image of an American bison dominates the back of the coin. Also on the reverse are the words ‘Golden Anniversary,’ the mintmark ‘S’ for the San Francisco Mint, the motto ‘E Pluribus Unum,’ the denomination of ‘Half Dollar’ and 50 stars encircling the bison to represent the United States of America’s 50 states.
