Full Description

As the San Francisco Mint churned out over 5 million Silver American Eagle silver bullion coins, another group of coins were being minted using special dies and multiple strikes. These were the Silver American Eagle Proof coins featuring the Deep Cameo look, but with the same weight and purity as the SAE bullion coins. Savvy collectors bought them quickly, but you can still own a perfect PR70 DCAM Silver American Eagle as certified by PCGS for your high-grade coin collection or precious metals portfolio.

Obverse

The front of the coin features a rendition of the Adolph A. Weinman Walking Liberty design. Lady Liberty walks toward the rays of a rising sun. An American flag is draped across her shoulder, and she carries branches in her left arm. Above her figure is the word ‘Liberty. Also on the obverse are the motto ‘In God We Trust’ and the year of issue.

Reverse

The American Eagle is shown on the back of the coin as originally designed by John Mercanti. Its wings are outspread, with a striped shield in front. The eagle holds in its beak a ribbon with the motto E Pluribus Unum and in its talons an olive branch and a bunch of arrows. Above the eagle’s head, in a downward-pointing triangle pattern, are 13 stars representing the 13 original colonies. Above the eagle is ‘United States of America,’ and below is the weight of 1 oz. Fine Silver and the face value of one dollar.
