Full Description

The first of its kind to hit the international markets, the South African Krugerrand was the first gold bullion coin to gain worldwide use in the modern era. Entrenched in South African history, the Krugerrand is one of the top three gold bullion investment coins in the world.

Owning gold today, it is essential to own a Gold Krugerrand, and the half ounce fractional is a wonderful start to a secure portfolio.

Featured on the Obverse of each Krugerrand is part of its namesake, Paul Kruger: the first President of the new South African Republic. In what was essentially a battle over South African gold fields; Kruger led the Afrikaners, or Dutch descendents, against British settlers.

Shown on the Reverse of the 22-karat Gold Coin is a springbok, a natural inhabitant of the dry savannahs. The first Krugerrand was minted in 1967 and only was available in one ounce form; after 1980 the half ounce variety hit the market and since its start has released over 50 million gold coins.
