Classified as AU (Almost Uncirculated) the U.S. made Peace Silver Dollar is characterized by showing light wear on the high points of the coins design, but still shows at least half of the original mint luster.

Similar to the Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle design, the Peace Silver Dollar encountered a problem with the original High Relief design. First released in 1921, over 1 million coins released the first two years were considered impractical for general circulation, and the design was reduced for the rest of its minting; which ended in 1935.

Designed by medalist, Anthony de Francisci, the coins design was not influenced by Congress as for previous coins due to the Pittman Act. The Act authorized the minting of 350 million silver dollars for bullion purposes and in no way dictated design.

Francisci based Lady Liberties profile on his wife's features. Liberty is shown facing left with a multi-point crown sitting atop her head with waving hair giving the appearance of wind, or forward movement.

The second submission by the artist, the Reverse design shows a proud American bald eagle standing proudly with its back facing the viewer, clutching an olive branch in its talons with rays, similar to the crown worn by liberty, shine behind the majestic image. "United States of America," and the motto "E Pluribus Unum" are inscribed above the design, while the denomination lies in a flat plane near the eagle's image, and the word "Peace," lies below.
