Full Description

First released by the Perth Mint in 1990, the Australian Silver Kookaburra is a wonderful investment opportunity for precious metals enthusiasts to make.

Comprised of .999 fine silver, the coin features the Kookaburra, whose cry is often synonymous with the sound of the wilderness or jungle. Native to Australia and New Guinea, the carnivorous bird was chosen to be the mascot for the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney.

The Reverse image on the Australian Silver Kookaburra changes yearly, and showcases the magnificent animal in various poses and settings.

On the Obverse of the coin, the profile of Queen Elizabeth II graces the central part of the coin and inscriptions denoting the coins denomination are shown around the Queen’s image.

Featured on the Reverse is the coin’s namesake, the Australian Kookaburra perched atop a shaded branch. Peering over its shoulder, exquisite detail was created by the designers on the birds wings, tailor feathers, and breast. Inscribed around the captivating image is "Australian Kookaburra" above, and the year, weight and purity shown below.
