Our GMRgold Advisors are asked this question more than anything else. In the end, the type of metal you choose will fluctuate depending on the market, so here are a few basic fundamentals that can serve as a simple guide:
1) Purchase bullion with a low difference between the bid and ask prices. Low transaction costs translate to more value for you.
2) Don’t get sucked into gimmicky or strange products. Stick to widely traded bullion (most of our in-stock Bullion is a safe bet!) This way you are sure to be able to sell when you’re ready.
3) Don’t tie yourself up with large purchases that cannot be broken down. The purchase of smaller “fractional” sized coins or rounds will free you up for smaller dealings. 1/10th oz gold American Eagles are a great choice for this.
When you have to decide between silver or gold just remember you can’t really go wrong. History has proven that popular rounds and bars will perform despite their metal type. Contact us if for a free consultation on what’s best for you.
