Authorized by the Gold Bullion Coin Act and the Liberty Coin Act, both of 1985, the American Eagle Bullion Coin program has become a popular option for investors and collectors alike. The first coins of the series appeared in 1986 and quickly became must-haves amongst the coin collecting community.
The Silver and Gold American Eagles are guaranteed by the United States Government for their weight and purity and their metal, as part of the legislation, is specifically mined within the United States or its territories. Part of the added appeal of owning the coins, other than their precious metal content, is the fact that both variations of the coin feature an iconic numismatic design from American’s minting past.
2016 Silver and Gold American Eagles celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the program, and are set to become must-have items for collectors or investors.
Gold American Eagles
Featured on the obverse of each Gold American Eagle is the Augustus Saint Gaudens liberty design which was minted on the Double Eagle from 1907 until 1933. Available in a variety of weights, the one-ounce, half-ounce, quarter-ounce, and tenth-ounce; each 22-karat gold coin showcases the original design in stunning detail.
Originally design by the famed artist to be featured in Ultra-High Relief, the design was altered several times, posthumously, to achieve a clear and detailed relief when minting. Today, with the advancements in our countries minting capabilities, the original design is rendered in complete and remarkable detail.
