  • Title: AUSTRALIAN SILVER 5 OZ HORSE 2014
  • Metal: Silver

Full Description

The 5 oz. Australian Silver Lunar Horse 2014 coin is a substantial piece of silver, with lower premiums per ounce than the smaller coins of the series. Choosing this coin is a great way to diversify a precious metals portfolio. The numismatic value is also considerable, as the year of the horse only comes for one year in twelve. Ideal for collectors who want to see every detail in stunning relief, this 5 oz. Silver horse coin is a beautiful addition to any coin collection featuring horse coins or coins from the Chinese Lunar calendar.

Obverse

The front of the coin features a right-facing portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, created by artists and sculptor Ian Rank Broadley. The Queen wears her royal tiara over beautifully-coiffed hair. The Queen’s name, Australia, 5 oz. .999 silver, 2014, and the face value of 8 Dollars encircle the Queen’s image. Below the neck are the artist’s initials, IRB.

Reverse

The back of the coin depicts two horses, one grazing in the foreground and one behind standing upright. The horses’ muscular bodies reflect the light, standing out against a tranquil Chinese landscape. Below the horses is the inscription ‘Year of the Horse.’ Above is the Chinese character for horse. Near the right edge of the coin is the Perth mint mark ‘P.’
