Full Description

Around three times the size of a typical quarter-dollar that most Americans carry in their pockets, the 5 ounce Silver America the Beautiful Bullion Coins are truly a remarkable addition to American currency. Featured on the 13th coin in the series is Acadia National Park in Maine.

Comprised of 5 troy ounces of .999 fine Silver: the 2012 America the Beautiful Quarter is a unique and sound investment.

Authorized by Congress in 2008, coins belonging to the America the Beautiful Quarter Dollar series feature the “restored” John Flannagan image of George Washington on the Obverse. The first quarters originally featured Lady Liberty, but were replaced by the first President’s image in 1932.

Shown on the Reverse of the large silver coin is a depiction of the featured national park: Acadia National Park. Established in 1919 as Lafayette National Park, it was renamed Acadia in 1929 and is the oldest National Park east of the Mississippi River. A focal point in the design: Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse is shown, surrounded by Acadia’s rough coastline.
