    Full Description

The Australian kookaburra, a member of the kingfisher family of birds, is a beloved fixture in the Australian outback. The Australian Silver Kookaburra, on the other hand, has captivated coin collectors and investors around the world. With its unique 2017 kookaburra design and its full 1 kilo of .999 Fine Silver, this coin is truly one of the world’s best!

    The Obverse

The front of the coin features Ian Rank-Broadley’s portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the fourth to be featured on coins of the realm. The Queen wears a sparkling tiara and gazes to the right of the coin with an expression of hope, courage and strength. Around the Queen’s image are her name as Elizabeth II, Australia, and the face value of 30 Dollars. Rank-Broadley’s initials IRB show below the neck of the Queen.

    The Reverse

First minted in 1990, the Australian Silver Kookaburra features a new reverse design each year. This year’s kookaburra design is the most detailed yet. Two kookaburra birds are shown sitting on a board fence. The fine details of both the kookaburras and the fence catch the light, making for a visually stunning coin. Above the image is the name of the coin as Australian Kookaburra, and below are the year as 2017 and the metal content of 1 Kilo 999 Silver. The Perth Mint ‘P’ mintmark is also shown on the reverse.
