Part of the American Buffalo .9999 Fine Gold Bullion Coin series first released in 2006 thanks to the Presidential $1 Coin Act of 2005, the 2016 Gold American Buffalo continues the legacy of not only the iconic design, but American innovation. Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Gold Bullion coin series, the 2016 American Gold Buffalo - PCGS First Strike MS70 (Buffalo Label) is a fantastic opportunity to invest in quality and history.

The Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) is one of the most respected grading company's known to investors and collectors; and have graded some of the most valuable numismatic items in history. Part of their First Strike labels, the 2016 American Gold Buffalo was graded within 30 days of being minted. Adding to the special designation, the coin is also given the special Buffalo 10th Anniversary label, which showcases the coins namesake on the grading marker.

Originally minted from 1913 until 1938, the historic Indian Head, or Buffalo Nickel design has become one of the most recognized images in American coinage. Designed by sculptor James Earle Fraser, who's work was integral in many of Washington, D.C.'s most iconic structures, the coin represents the American West with fantastic imagery and detail.

Shown on the front of the 24-karat gold coin is the stunning profile of a Native American man facing right. Extraordinary detail was paid to the braid and feather adornments. On the upper right "Liberty" is inscribed, and in the lower left is the date along with the initial of the artist.

On the back of the coin is the namesake: the American Buffalo. Facing left, the animals striking features can be seen in detail, showing the recognizable shaggy mane, hump  and horn. The type one design, showing the animal on raised ground, was used for the Gold Buffalo bullion coin series; the type two design shows the buffalo on a flat surface.
