2015 Canada 1 Ounce Silver North American Sport Fish Walleye Proof

The third edition in this series of four rare coins featuring North American trophy fish minted by the Royal Canadian Mint. The GEM Proof coin follows after the first two editions minted in this series which were the Large Mouth Bass and the Northern Pike, and will be followed by the Rainbow Trout. These coins are extremely rare and popular with a mintage of only 6,500. Each of these coins are individually numbered and come with a certificate of authenticity. The master crafted coins come nestled inside of a quality burgundy colored leather case and surrounded by soft black velvet cushioning. Walleye proofs are ready to be prominently displayed along with the first two minted editions of this rare and valuable series of coins.

Obverse/Reverse:

Artist Curtis Atwater's intricately designed image of a North American Walleye swimming in its natural habitat garners the back of this coin along with the date it was minted and the value ($20). Designed in 2003 by artist Susanna Blunt, the from side of this rare coin features a profile image of Queen Elizabeth II facing to the right. The elegantly designed image of Her Majesty is accompanied by the surrounding text, "QUEEN ELIZABETH II" to her left, and "D.G. REGINA" to her right. The edge of this coin is engraved with the plain lettering, "1 OZ FINE SILVER - 1 OZ ARGENT PUR". The lettering along the coin's edge certifies both the coin's weight and purity of the silver. The lettering feature is unique to this series of coins.

At 38 mm in diameter, Walleye Proofs are minted with 1 troy ounce of 99.99% pure silver and weigh in at 31.39 grams.

2015 Canada 1 Ounce Silver North American Sport Fish Rainbow Trout Proof

The 2015 Canadian Silver Coin Series featuring North American Sport Fish is an unusual series celebrating four different species of fish: Largemouth Bass, Walleye, Northern Pike, and Rainbow Trout that are popular in America. The 2015 Canada 1 Ounce Silver North American Sport Fish Rainbow Trout Proof  is the fourth in the series. Weighing 31.39 grams, this 99.99% pure silver coin has a diameter of 38 millimeters.

Obverse/Reverse:

The rainbow trout is featured on the back of the coin drawn by the Canadian artist Curtis Atwater. It is curled at an angle with its head facing the viewer and its tail tucked behind it. This angle allows the viewer to note the trout-specific cigar-shaped body. The trout is complete with the detailed speckling and stripe shading that is characteristic of the rainbow trout's side body and intricate feathered fins. You'll note a fallen branch and pebbled river in the background of the design-- a habitat that is natural to this species. Also on the front of the coin, you'll find the inscriptions "Canada 2015" and "20 dollars." A profile image of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt is featured on the obverse side. Elizabeth II and D.G. Regina are inscribed on either side of the portrait of the queen.

2015 Canada 1 Ounce Silver North American Sport Fish Northern Pike Proof

The Royal Canadian Mint created this 2015 Canada 1 Ounce Silver North American Sport Fish Northern Pike Proof.

Few countries have such incredible wildlife and natural landscapes as Canada, and the frigid waters of the northern pike shine through in this illuminating silver coin.

Catching a northern pike is an incredible experience. The large, powerful fish is a mark of pride for any fisherman. Now, you can possess that pride forever with this time-tested metal.

Obverse/Reverse:

The front of this coin features Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Her dignified image and royal blood are worthy guardians of this valuable silver coin. Decorated in her elegant pearls, the Queen marks this precious metal forever.

This effigy of Queen Elizabeth II was created by Susanna Blunt, whose iconic image of the Queen was unveiled by the Royal Canadian Mint in 2003 and continues to be printed today.

The back of the coin features that elusive northern pike, depicted within aquatic foliage as he hunts for his next meal. His large body and powerful jaw are crafted with incredible detail, easily viewed from any angle.

Artist Curtis Atwater has spent his career focusing on game fish, and his rendering of the northern pike perfectly captures the bright eyes of this aquatic hunter.

"It is a passion for fishing and a fascination with the underwater world that led me to focus on painting gamefish."
