Full Description

The Chinese Gold Panda Series, first issued in 1982, features China’s national symbol, the panda. Although no 1/20-ounce coins were minted the first year, they were added to the series in 1983 and have been in production every year since. This coin has a 20-yuan face value backed by the Chinese government. Ideal for investors, the coin contains 1/20 ounce of .999 fine gold. With its small weight, it adds value to a precious metals portfolio while offering a flexible investment option. For collectors, the Gold Panda’s yearly coin designs and the design variations produced at different mints make it a fascinating choice.

The front of the 1/20-ounce Gold Panda depicts the Temple of Heaven located in Beijing. The Temple, a part of a large religious complex, was built in 1420 and is still used today. Above are Chinese characters that translate as ‘People’s Republic of China.’ Below is the year of issue.

The back of the 2015 Gold Panda features a unique panda design with a large panda casually munching on eucalyptus leaves in front of a bamboo wall. The black of the panda’s arms and legs stand out stunningly against its light fur and the sparkling bamboo wall. Also on the reverse is the face value of 20 yuan.
