The 27 year old bullion, since its first introduction, has become the most traded gold bullion in the world. This clearly states human tendency for desirability and value for this yellowish stone. These American Gold eagles are clearly the best investment options that anyone can have. These were also the only kind of gold items that were allowed to fund Individual Retirement Accounts until after 1997.

The American Eagle also gains a lot more trust among people because of the fact that its is the only bullion coin whose purity in gold content is guaranteed by the United States government. The American Gold Eagle program took off with the Gold Bullion Act of 1985. This resulted into the making of the first American Gold Eagle in 1986. As stipulated by the United States Law, these bullions are to be made solely from gold that is extracted from the mines in the United States. These American Gold Eagles are made up of 22 karat gold or 91.67% pure gold.

The Obverse: The Obverse shows The Lady Liberty moving towards the viewer, from out of the rising sun's rays. THe Lady Liberty holds a torch in right hand and olive twigs in the left. THe inscription 'LIBERTY', is written in bold over her head.

The obverse of this coin derives its inspiration from the most beautiful coin of bullion history - The 1907 Double Eagle. It was designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens and Thomas Roosevelt chose it as his vision of United States as a growing nation.

The reverse shows a bald American Eagle with olive twigs in her talon, moving towards her nest to her mate and hatchlings. Also are boldly inscribed, 'E Pluribus Unum' and 'In God We Trust'.
