Full Description

The sixth installment of the First Spouse Gold Coin Program, was the Louisa Adams Gold Coin of 2008. The First Spouse Gold Coin Program provided for the issuance of gold coins that would weigh half ounce and will be made out of 24 karat gold. This coin was released in March 2008.Released at the same time as the President dollars, the Spouse coins are made up of .9999 fine gold.

Louisa Adams was wife to John Quincy Adams who served as the president from 1825 to 1829.

Obverse:

The Obverse shows the portrait of the First lady. The Obverse also has the following inscribed onto it: Louisa Adams, In God We Trust, Liberty, 2008-W, 6th 1825-1829. Designed by Susan Gamble and sculpted by Phebe Hemphill.

Reverse:

The Reverse shows Louisa Adams in her young age with her son Charles travelling across Europe for a reunion with her husband and father who were in Paris. The Reverse also has the following inscribed on to it: United States of America, E Pluribus Unum, $10 Denomination, Gold weight : 1/2 Oz., and Gold Purity : .9999 fine.  Designed and sculpted by Joseph Menna.
