Full Description

The 2005 Silver American Eagle is a classic among bullion investors and numismatists alike. Coming from a long line of coins produced by the US mint, the Silver American Eagle functions well as both an investment option and as a display piece.

The coin contains 1 troy ounce of silver at .999 purity. It shows lady liberty draped with a flag on one side and has the American eagle with 13 stars, one for each of the first American colonies. It was designed using Adolph A. Weinman’s “Walking Liberty” image. Silver American Eagles have been produced since 1986 when the government wanted to reduce its precious metal stockpile.

The 3 nine’s purity of this coin means that it is eligible to be deposited into a Silver IRA or Silver 401(k). When combined with their low premium against the spot price of silver on the market, it is easy to see why so many investors love these coins. In fact, these bullion coins are so popular that in 2014 and 2015 the US mint had to ration the number of coins people were allowed to buy.

The obverse shows Adolph A. Weinman’s “Walking Liberty” image, showing lady liberty walking with the land’s resources.

The reverse depicts and American Eagle, similar to the great seal of the United States, with 13 stars to represent the original 13 colonies.
