  • Title: $20 Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Ealge NGC MS-62

Full Description

The $20 Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagle was minted during the Renaissance of American coinage. The Double Eagle design is an icon of beauty in America and the world. The coin was minted from 1907 to 1933, when production was stopped after new legislation forbade the public from owning gold. With .9675 troy ounces of .900 gold, this coin is an excellent investment, as well as a numismatic treasure. Graded as Mint-State 62 by NGC, the coin offered here may have some slight contact marks or blemishes in focal areas and the luster may be impaired. Although the face value is $20, the intrinsic value of the silver and the numismatic value of this historical coin is far greater.

Obverse

In Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ beautiful design, Lady Liberty walks in front of the rays of a rising sun with her torch of freedom and enlightenment held aloft in her right hand. In her left hand, she carries an olive branch. Above her image is the word ‘Liberty.’ Stars encircle the coin. The year is also engraved on the obverse.

Reverse

The reverse shows an American eagle in flight, appearing to move toward the left of the coin. The sun shows in the background, with its rays spreading out behind the eagle. Below the eagle is the motto ‘In God We Trust.’ Above are the words ‘United States of America’ and ‘Twenty Dollars.’
