  • Title: 1996 P Silver American Eagle PF69 UC NGC Brown Label
  • Metal: Silver

Full Description

The Silver American Eagle bullion program was accompanied by a series of stunning proof coins such as this 1996 SAE. Coin grading service NGC has certified this coin as a PF69 Ultra Cameo coin due to its near-perfect proof striking and its sharp contrasts between reflective flat surfaces and frosted raised devices. Choose this coin to add to a collection of proof coins or as the centerpiece of a Silver American Eagle collection.

Obverse

The front of the coin features a rendition of the Adolph A. Weinman Walking Liberty design. Lady Liberty walks toward the rays of a rising sun. An American flag is draped across her shoulder, and she carries branches in her left arm. Above her figure is the word ‘Liberty. Also on the obverse are the motto ‘In God We Trust’ and the year of issue.

Reverse

The American Eagle is shown on the back of the coin as originally designed by John Mercanti. Its wings are outspread, with a striped shield in front. The eagle holds in its beak a ribbon with the motto E Pluribus Unum and in its talons an olive branch and a bunch of arrows. Above the eagle’s head, in a downward-pointing triangle pattern, are 13 stars representing the 13 original colonies. Above the eagle is ‘United States of America,’ and below are the weight of 1 oz. Fine Silver and the face value of one dollar.
