Full Description

In 1992, the San Francisco Mint struck its last Silver American Eagle proof coins. These coins were designed to have both intrinsic value for investors and numismatic quality for collectors. With the PF 69 Ultra Cameo designation by NGC, this Silver Eagle is an excellent choice for collectors of high-grade proof silver coins.

Obverse

The front of the coin features a rendition of the Adolph A. Weinman Walking Liberty design. Lady Liberty walks toward the rays of a rising sun. An American flag is draped across her shoulder, and she carries branches in her left arm. Above her figure is the word ‘Liberty. Also on the obverse are the motto ‘In God We Trust’ and the year of issue.

Reverse

The American Eagle is shown on the back of the coin as originally designed by John Mercanti. Its wings are outspread, with a striped shield in front. The eagle holds in its beak a ribbon with the motto E Pluribus Unum and in its talons an olive branch and a bunch of arrows. Above the eagle’s head, in a downward-pointing triangle pattern, are 13 stars representing the 13 original colonies. Above the eagle is ‘United States of America,’ and below is the weight of 1 oz. Fine Silver and the face value of one dollar.
