Full Description

The proof version of the Silver American Eagle is one of the most beautiful coins produced by the U.S. Mint. The Ultra Cameo look of mirrored flat surfaces and frosted raised devices makes this 1990 Silver Eagle even more desirable. Add this perfect Proof-70 SAE to any collection of high-grade coins.

The front of the coin features a rendition of the Adolph A. Weinman Walking Liberty design. Lady Liberty walks toward the rays of a rising sun. An American flag is draped across her shoulder, and she carries branches in her left arm. Above her figure is the word ‘Liberty. Also on the obverse are the motto ‘In God We Trust’ and the year of issue.

The American Eagle is shown on the back of the coin as originally designed by John Mercanti. Its wings are outspread, with a striped shield in front. The eagle holds in its beak a ribbon with the motto E Pluribus Unum and in its talons an olive branch and a bunch of arrows. Above the eagle’s head, in a downward-pointing triangle pattern, are 13 stars representing the 13 original colonies. Above the eagle is ‘United States of America,’ and below is the weight of 1 oz. Fine Silver, the mintmark ‘S,’ which only appears on proof Silver American Eagles, and and the face value of one dollar.
