Full Description

The Walking Liberty Half Dollar was minted from 1916 to 1947 after the U.S. Treasury demanded more beautiful coin designs. This magnificent rendition of the iconic Lady Liberty image captured the hearts of Americans then and continues to be a favorite among collectors. Made of 0.3617 troy ounces of .900 pure silver, the coin has intrinsic value beyond its numismatic features. Presented here in MS65 condition as certified by coin grading service NGC, this coin is sealed in protective packaging bearing NGC’s distinctive Brown Label.

Obverse

The front of the coin depicts Lady Liberty walking toward a rising sun. An American flag is draped across her shoulder, and she carries branches in her left hand. Weinman wanted the iconic figure to be as tall as possible, so he placed the word ‘Liberty’ to her right rather than above her. Also on the obverse is the motto ‘In God We Trust’ and the year of issue.

Reverse

Weinman created the reverse design as well. It features an eagle standing on a rocky crag with wings held high. Also on the back of the coin is the motto ‘E Pluribus Unum,’ the denomination of ‘Half Dollar’ and the mintmark.
