Full Description

Made in the United States, the one ounce copper rounds were minted privately and are guaranteed to contain one-ounce of .9995 fine copper.

First issued in 1859, the Indian Head penny was about the size of a half dollar coin, with a diameter of .75 inches. Designed by Chief Engraver of the Philadelphia Mint, James B. Longacre, the coin depicts Lady Liberty donning a Native American headdress.

Shown on the Obverse of the copper round is the leftward facing Lady Liberty with the Indian headdress showing the inscription “Liberty” on the band. Her waving hair can be seen below, and in this representation she is wearing a set of pearls.

On the Reverse of the one ounce .9995 copper round is distinctly patriotic image showing an American eagle facing left, clutching a bundle of arrows, and olive branch, in front of a striped shield. A wreath encompasses the image and the insignia “In God We Trust” is shown above. The weight and purity of the coin are shown below.

Pure copper rounds, like the one ounce .9995 Copper Indian Penny are sensitive to the oils of the human hand. GMR recommends handling your coins with gloves, or by the edges to avoid staining the surface. Store in a sulfur-free environment, like the pvc tubing, or capsules to ensure the longevity of your investment.
