Made in the United States, the one ounce copper rounds were minted at the Osborne Mint; which holds the distinction of being America’s oldest private mint, and has over 30,000 different dies from their more than 250 years in the business.

Typically what is shown on the Obverse of every Chinese Gold Panda is the Temple of Heaven. Built in the 15th century, the temple was visiting by the Emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties for annual ceremonies of prayer to Heaven for good harvest. One of the most recognized animals on the planet is featured on the Reverse of the gold coin, and also happens to be the coins namesake: the Giant Panda. Illustrations of the curious beasts differ year to year: the only exception being 2001, and 2002 when the same design was minted.

Copper rounds from the Osborne Mint, are satin frosted and polished to give the background a mirror-like finish, similar to the proof finishes of the U.S. Mint. Reeded edges, much like the U.S. quarter, are also a feature of the copper rounds.

Shown on the Obverse of the pure copper round is the design the 2012 Chinese Gold Panda bullion coin. A mother panda, and cub are shown sitting facing the viewer, with a beautifully detailed bamboo forest in the background. Missing from the original is the Yuan denomination, but the purity of the coin is shown in its original location.

On the Reverse of the one ounce .999 copper round is the original Obverse image of the Chinese Gold Panda: the Temple of Heaven. Shown above is the weight and purity of the coin. “1 ADVP Ounce .999 Fine Copper.
