Full Description

No other symbols of the American West are so poignant as the mighty buffalo and the proud Native American depicted on this 1/4-ounce Buffalo Fractional Silver Round. Minted in one quarter troy ounce of .999 Fine Gold, this round is precisely struck. The design on these rounds is a rendition of the James Earle Fraser design featured on the Buffalo Nickel first produced by the U.S. Mint in 1913. As a round based on a U.S. coin no longer being minted, it is an interesting choice for coin collectors. Even more suitable for investors, this quarter ounce silver round is a cost-effective way to add to your silver stack whether to get started quickly or to diversify a precious metals portfolio.

The front of the round is a rendition of James Earle Fraser’s Buffalo Nickel design featuring the portrait of a Native American gazing to the right. Several different models sat for Fraser as he designed an image that combined features to create a cultural type. The word ‘Liberty’ is show to the right of the Indian Head.

On the back of this silver bullion round is an American bison standing on a mound of dirt. Fraser’s original buffalo design was said to have been based on the appearance of a bison named ‘Black Diamond’ that lived in the New York Central Park Zoo. Below the buffalo are the weight and purity, while above is "Golden State Mint" the name of the mint that produced it.
